Father passed – and it is a year already :(
Seems like just yesterday when I was talking to him and we were enjoying breakfast together – both of us love upma, a staple in Andhra Pradesh.
Miss you , naanna garu!

Spring seems to be here already!
Spring is knocking at the door – is it time for allergy season already? Evelyn Elena Saanvi has joined the family, Ramadasu Jayanthi is next Saturday. Srinu is visiting this weekend and my back has not yet given up its stranglehold on me!
How else can life be more interesting every second?

Summer wine?
Somehow, this morning, my thoughts turned to Lee Hazelwood’s timeless lyrics:
“Strawberries cherries and an angel’s kiss in spring
My summer wine is really made from all these things”
As each year comes and goes, I have to say, I have been blessed my many summers filled with the most delicious of fruit and surrounded by angels – so all I can say is – thank you, life!

Phoenix (AZ) is HOT!
So the news kept talking about heat records and how it was getting to dangerous territory. But it took a trip to the place to make me realize the real intent behind those warnings. Shade temperatures are still hotter than most places I have visited in the daytime, and any mild breeze makes it worse!
Waking out and then rushing back into a cool (air-conditioned) room is a horrible experience if repeated more than a couple of times – the body faces temperature differences of at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit (outside = 115F, inside = 70F). The human body is not designed to cope with such radical changes continuously.
I touched the pavement with my bare hand – it felt like I had put my palm on a hot plate!
So – simple advice – stay away until the temperatures get better – unless you cannot avoid it. Stay hydrated, and keep all pets away from these crazy temperatures!
